At least that's what Moran Cerf, a neuroscientist and former hacker believes and it's consistent with messages promoted by learning scientists/ education academics beginning with John Dewey.
The message applies to management as much as scientists. In fact, look no further than the business pages to find discrepancies between a company's stated goals and performance. A natural tension between autonomy and social needs create unconscious conflicts and often mean we hold on to what we know. Once realized, this performance gap often provokes a defensive posture rather than a learning opportunity. We fail to question our behavior, data selection and construction of meaning.
Rather than let the Peter principle prevail, organizations and leaders who apply counter tactics are gaining advantage. If you want to understand how to recognize and then create a personal or organizational strategy to overcome skilled incompetence.
