Speaker Profiles

Balaji Iyengar , '99 (Speaker)

Balaji Iyengar, '99, has been a Director, Research Sciences, at McKinsey & Company; Managing Director & Founder, TNT Consulting Associates; and Principal, ZS Associates. In addition to earning an MBA from Booth, he completed graduate courses in Computer Sciences at Northwestern University, and earned a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.

Ryan Kappedal, PhD (Speaker)

Ryan Kappedal is a 2019 candidate in the Executive Program at Booth. He is Assistant Professor of Statistics at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology and Lecturer at University of California, Berkeley. He earned a PhD in Statistics from the University of Washington, an MS from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a BS in Operations Research from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He is a Data Scientist and Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force. He also been a Visiting Scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Peter Olausson, PhD (Speaker)

Peter Olausson is CEO of Cognitiuum AGI, Artificial General Intelligence; Co-Founder & Chief Cognitive Scientist of Intelligent Artifacts; and Chairman, Americas of SuperBasket. He earned his doctorate in Pharmacology and MS in Biochemistry from the University of Gothenberg. His Postdoctoral Training in Neuroscience was from the Yale University School of Medicine.

Matt Sekerke , '12 (Speaker)

Matt Sekerke, '12, is President of QuantEcon Advisors and a Fellow at Johns Hopkins University. He is also a 2019 candidate for an MS in Applied Mathematics at Columbia University. He has been a Director at PWC; Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal; and Associate Director at Navigant Economics. He earned his MA and BA from Johns Hopkins. He is author of the 2015 book Bayesian Risk Management: A Guide to Model Risk and Sequential Learning in Financial Markets.

Lawrence Harris , '78 (Moderator)

Lawrence Harris, '78, the Event's Moderator, is a Private Investor. For over two decades he was a securities analyst covering the aerospace and telecommunications equipment industries. He was twice named by The Wall Street Journal as one of the Best on the Street analysts for stock selection in Communications Technology. In 2016, he completed The Oxford Chicago Valuation Programme and earned an Advanced Certificate for Executives (ACE) from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has also completed the MIT Executive Program course in Artificial Intelligence.
